Your bucket list is not complete unless you have met Renee Merklin. My family and I consider ourselves lucky and blessed to have her in our lives. Renee leads by example of how to live and love life. We are fortunate enough to learn from her.

Reneé's Story

Reneé fell down in April and was in terrible pain. She was walking, driving and working with a fractured neck for several months without realizing it, and doctors were hesitant to perform an X-ray at the time because she was pregnant. She began to lose feeling in her leg and arm. Eventually she had to stop working because she couldn't walk and the pain became unbearable. Medication for her pain was limited because of the pregnancy. She went in to Lutheran General on August 10th. They performed surgery on her neck on August 11, but unfortunately she lost the baby and they discovered traces of cancer on her brain and spine. She has a daughter, Ava, who is 8, and a loving husband, Wayne. Wayne will be their sole provider since Reneé will not be able to work. The money raised here will be used to help them with medical bills, medication, and any other expenses because Wayne will need to take her to appointments and will have to miss work. This will be Reneé's third battle with cancer. If you can't donate, please pray for their family during this time. Any prayers and donations are greatly appreciated. We have a PO Box set up for Reneé where you can send a check, gift card, or any other donation to help the Merklin family. Please mail to Reneé Merklin, PO Box 556, Cary Illinois 60013. Thank you for your support!

Update – September 18, 2016
Reneé has completed spot radiation on both her brain and spine and is now going through chemo. The first chemo treatment was rough. She couldn't breathe, needed oxygen, and was rushed to the ER. She was taken to the ICU due to blood clots on her lungs. She is now on blood thinners and will require follow-up appointments to make sure she can continue chemo. Wayne has very few days where he is allowed time off from work.
